Application Process

The following is a summary of the Cagliero Project application process. Please note that you do not need to wait until these dates to submit your application. They are simply the final dates that we will process applications.

  1. Read through our program requirements and philosophies to discern if the Cagliero Project fits well with the skills you have to offer. Please click here to learn more about our program requirements.
  2. Make an official enquiry through our website. Upon receiving your enquiry, we will send you an application form. Please click here to enquire about the Cagliero Project.
  3. Applications will be accepted until October 15th, 2017 for January 2018 departures.
  4. After your application has been reviewed you will be contacted for an interview.
  5. Acceptance letters will be sent within two weeks of your interview.
  6. Once accepted into the program, the Cagliero Project Director will work with the new volunteer to determine the best possible placement. The host community is then contacted and responds to the Cagliero Project Office to confirm the placement.
  7. At this point all the necessary travel, visa and insurance arrangements will be made for the volunteer by the Cagliero Project. The volunteer will ensure they obtain the appropriate vaccinations and will prepare for any other aspects of their placement.
  8. All volunteers are required to attend a formation and training program prior to departure. Please click here to learn more about our training and formation processes. There are two mandatory formation programs that will take place in Safety Beach, Victoria. The first will take place from November 24th – 26th, 2017 and the second will take place from January 12th – 18th, 2018.
  9. Volunteers depart the week following the formation program.

Immersion 2018

2014 Immersion

Friday June 29th – Sunday July 15th, 2018

(these dates are approximate as it will depend on specific flight times)

Location: Samoa
We will visit and contribute in the various Salesian schools and works throughout Samoa. A schedule with more detail is currently being organised and will be distributed once finalised.

Approximate cost:
$2,700 including airfares, insurance, accommodation and most meals.

Application:
We would like to centrally assess the applications for the 2018 immersion.

This will be done in consultation with the schools and other Salesian works.

Participants:
There will be a maximum of 15 participants.
As in previous years we will be looking for a mix of school students, young teachers and young adults involved in Salesian works (17 – 30 years of age).

Formation:
A mandatory formation weekend will take place from May 4 – 6th, 2018 at Don Bosco Camp in Safety Beach.
All costs are covered for this weekend except for transport costs to and from the venue.
